A comfort letter from the Student Counseling Center
Dear NTU students,
Every year, we welcome many stars and watch them shuttle across the campus, moving forward, back, turning, and settling. Our stars are filled with sweat, tears, laughter at National Taiwan University, and gradually write themselves in their own tracks. These stories comprise our National Taiwan University.
You are one of our stars!
The sound of ambulance horns on the campus today disrupted our busy midterm exam schedule and shocked, worried, and puzzled us.
Whenever a star leaves us, we cannot hide our sadness or hide our worries because every star is a part of us. We can't suppress our eagerness. We need you to join us on campus, continue to confirm your track and fulfill your story with National Taiwan University.
We may feel astonished, sad, angry, or even blame ourselves under this shock. These feelings need to be seen, understood, and accepted, and they represent our care. Therefore, we need to find ways to look after our bodies and minds to keep our every step stable and steady.
Try to take care of our bodies first.
A regular schedule, diet, and exercise are essential and beneficial to our health. Then we can study energetically.
Share our feelings and thoughts with friends.
We may be eager to take a big step during college, but sometimes we just won't take a break and settle ourselves a bit. We can share our feelings and thoughts with friends, and their companionship and support may slowly relieve our stress. When we feel calm and at ease, we can think about what we can do for ourselves and others.
Seek help from the Student Counseling Center (SCC). If you do not know how to express feelings and manage stress, please contact the SCC. We can provide:
1. Individual counseling
Online booking for intake service:https://my.ntu.edu.tw/Counsel/notice.aspx
2. Group counseling
If more people need to work together, please tell your professors or assistants. They will contact the SCC to arrange group counseling.
3. Crisis intervention
If you notice that you or your friends are in crisis, please walk-in Monday–Friday 8:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m. Our counselor on duty is available during service hours.
